Data Architect - 6-12 month day rate contract
Role Purpose
The Data Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the organisation’s data architecture strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity, governance, and accessibility across the organisation, while enabling innovation through modern business intelligence tools and data platforms. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration to drive strategic outcomes in data management and analytics.
Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation’s data architecture, enhancing delivery, technology, and structure.
- Safeguard the integrity of local data infrastructure, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, roadmaps, strategies, and quality standards.
- Define, explore, and clarify data architecture requirements for all internal projects, including data collection, cleansing, storage, sharing, and usage.
- Establish and promote best practices for data management and governance.
- Own and maintain conceptual and logical data models across the organisation.
- Integrate modern business intelligence (BI) tools and methodologies with legacy data warehouse systems.
- Ensure compliance with audit and reporting obligations, including GDPR.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including group functions and external partners.
- Positively influence the leadership, culture, and overall success of the Commercial & Analytics department.
Desired Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
Qualifications & Experience
- Third-level degree in IT, Computer Science, Data, or related discipline; or equivalent professional/technical experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in data architecture, data modelling, and data warehousing.
- Proven knowledge of data management principles, governance, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering successful projects/initiatives.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical expertise with business needs.
Technical Skills
- Broad technology experience, ideally including: Snowflake, SQL Server (DB and Analysis Services), Oracle, Azure, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Power BI (on-premise and service), Tableau.
- Understanding of industry trends, roadmaps, capability models, and frameworks.
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and propose effective solutions.
