Job Description:
A flagship client of ours, a highly respected and forward-thinking organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking a Data Scientist to join its expanding Data & Analytics function. This is a permanent opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping data-driven decision-making across the business, working alongside a collaborative team of high-performing data and technology professionals. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of innovative, enterprise-scale data solutions, with a strong focus on advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, helping to transform data into a strategic asset and drive meaningful business impact.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines using cloud-based data platforms.
- Design and optimise ETL/ELT processes to ensure robust data quality and security.
- Apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI methodologies to deliver actionable business insights.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders and data architects to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Monitor and enhance data systems for performance and cost efficiency.
- Support data analysts and business units by delivering clean, well-documented, and accessible data.
- Promote best practices in data engineering, documentation, and solution design.
- Maintain awareness of technological trends to continuously improve data solutions.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data engineering or data science roles.
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms and data warehousing technologies.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL programming.
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL pipelines, and distributed data processing.
- Demonstrated experience applying AI and machine learning frameworks in a business context.
Desirable Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Azure Data Services (e.g. Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks) and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
- Understanding financial services operations and regulatory environments.
- Experience in agile environments and continuous improvement methodologies.
Educational Requirements
- A third-level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required.
