Database Developer

We are seeking an experienced Database Source Code Management SME to join our client’s Enterprise Integration, Automation & Delivery team. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database code management solutions across a complex enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience managing database DDL/DML changes, integrating with version control systems, and enabling automated delivery pipelines in multi-stream, regulated development environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement database source code repositories, enabling effective DDL/DML code management across Oracle and/or SQL Server.
• Integrate database code management with Git-based source control systems (preferably Bitbucket).
• Define and implement branching strategies that support parallel development streams.
• Enable automated database change delivery pipelines, in collaboration with our client’s CI/CD and DevOps teams.
• Establish code standards, frameworks, and governance controls across multiple repositories.
• Collaborate with our client’s development, database, and automation teams to ensure scalable and compliant implementations.
• Ensure change tracking, traceability, and audit-readiness across environments (Dev to Prod).
• Provide thought leadership on best practices for enterprise-level source code management for databases.

Core Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing database source code at an enterprise level.
• Strong development and/or DBA background in Oracle and/or SQL Server.
• Proficient in PL/SQL development or management.
• Proven experience using database change tools such as TOAD, Redgate, Flyway, Liquibase, or equivalents.
• Deep knowledge of Git and related platforms (e.g., Bitbucket).
• Experience designing and managing branching strategies in a multi-repository setup.
• Experience working in a DevOps or CI/CD environment.

Desirable Skills

• Automation experience with Bitbucket Pipelines or scripting tools like Ansible.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Atlassian tools including JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Additional database exposure (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with data masking or data governance tools.
