Director of Engineering

We are looking to speak with senior engineering leaders regarding anticipated leadership opportunities with technology-driven organisations in Dublin.

The successful individual will take ownership of software engineering strategy and delivery across several teams. This is a people-focused leadership position requiring strong technical judgement, commercial awareness and experience operating in complex environments.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead multiple software engineering teams through experienced engineering managers and technical leads.

• Define the engineering strategy, operating model and delivery roadmap.

• Develop a high-performance culture centred on quality, accountability and continuous improvement.

• Work closely with Product, Architecture, Security and senior business stakeholders.

• Oversee the delivery of scalable, secure and reliable platforms.

• Improve software development practices, including automated testing, CI/CD and observability.

• Support the modernisation of legacy applications and migration to cloud-native technologies.

• Own workforce planning, recruitment, retention and leadership development.

• Manage delivery risks, budgets and third-party technology partners.

Experience required:

• Extensive experience leading software engineering teams in a complex organisation.

• A strong technical background in modern software development and cloud technologies.

• Previous responsibility for engineering managers or multiple delivery teams.

• Experience modernising platforms or scaling technology functions.

• Strong knowledge of engineering standards, DevOps and secure development practices.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• A track record of attracting, developing and retaining engineering talent.
