Security Engineer

We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Security Engineer to join a leading financial services organisation on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their cybersecurity career to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, regulated environment. You’ll work alongside experienced security professionals, helping to protect critical systems and data while building a strong foundation for long-term growth in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and support the operation of core security tools (SIEM, endpoint protection, firewalls, etc.)

• Assist with vulnerability assessments, tracking remediation actions across teams

• Support the investigation and documentation of security alerts and incidents

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of security procedures and technical documentation

• Assist with identity and access management processes, including onboarding and offboarding

• Collaborate with IT, operations, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to security policies

• Keep up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats, tools, and best practices

Skills & Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in IT or information security (internships or co-op experience considered)

• Basic understanding of security principles, networking concepts, and common threat vectors

• Familiarity with tools such as SIEM, antivirus solutions, vulnerability scanners, etc.

• Exposure to system administration (Windows or Linux) is an advantage

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

• Clear and confident communication, with the ability to collaborate across teams

Desirable Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field

• Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, SSCP, or equivalent are a plus

• Experience in financial services or other regulated environments is beneficial
