Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced SOC Security Engineer to support the engineering, automation and ongoing enhancement of enterprise cyber security platforms within a complex technology environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Engineer, maintain and continuously improve security monitoring, detection and response capabilities across cloud and enterprise environments.
• Develop and enhance automated deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code and appropriate testing and security controls.
• Configure and optimise Microsoft security technologies, including Sentinel and Defender/XDR, covering areas such as detection rules, telemetry, monitoring and automated response.
• Build automation to improve security operations, governance processes, reporting and the collection of control and compliance evidence.
• Support privileged access processes, including access approvals, monitoring, governance, periodic reviews and exception handling.
• Develop dashboards and reporting capabilities to provide visibility of security operations, service performance, risk, controls and platform utilisation.
• Support the transition of new security capabilities into operational environments, ensuring appropriate documentation, monitoring, support procedures and service arrangements are established.
• Work closely with security, technology, architecture, risk and delivery stakeholders to convert business and technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.

Experience Required

• Minimum 3+ years' relevant experience within security engineering, DevSecOps, cloud/platform engineering, security automation or a closely related position.
• Strong practical experience with Microsoft Azure and associated security and identity capabilities.
• Hands-on knowledge of Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform and infrastructure-as-code approaches.
• Experience engineering or supporting enterprise security monitoring and response platforms, ideally within the Microsoft security ecosystem.
• Good knowledge of scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell or Python, alongside API-based integrations.
• Experience designing reliable and repeatable automation within environments subject to security and governance controls.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

• Microsoft Sentinel and Defender/XDR experience, including KQL, detection engineering, telemetry integration and security automation.
• Knowledge of Azure identity, RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, networking, monitoring and cloud governance.
• Experience with Logic Apps, Power Automate and event-driven integration approaches.
• Power BI experience, particularly developing dashboards and data models for operational, risk and security reporting.
• Understanding of privileged access management processes and associated governance controls.
• Knowledge of secure SDLC and DevSecOps principles.
• Familiarity with vulnerability management, security control testing, change management and technology risk processes.
• Experience supporting security platforms through the transition from project delivery into business-as-usual operations.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or third-level qualification in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
