My client is seeking an experienced C#/.NET Application Support Analyst for an initial 6-month contract. This role requires a strong mix of application support and development expertise, with a focus on maintaining and enhancing business-critical applications. The position operates on a 50/50 hybrid working model, with offices located on the Dublin Southside (DART line).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for a portfolio of internally developed applications, ensuring high levels of system availability and performance.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents, user queries, and production issues in a timely manner.
- Deliver application enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements across existing systems.
- Work closely with business users to understand requirements and provide effective technical solutions.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to support system upgrades, deployments, and patching activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of incidents, resolutions, enhancements, and technical processes.
- Support and maintain legacy applications while contributing to modernisation initiatives using current technologies.
- Participate in application lifecycle activities, including testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Experience Required
- Minimum 10 years' experience in software development, application support, or software maintenance within a regulated or business-critical environment.
- Strong experience supporting and developing applications using C#, VB.NET, and legacy VB6 technologies.
- Proven expertise in Oracle databases, including PL/SQL development and support.
- Experience working with SQL Server environments would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions in production environments.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders and end users in support-focused roles.
- Background supporting applications within financial services or another highly regulated sector.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to investment, insurance, accounting, or other financial services platforms.
- Experience with web technologies including JavaScript, jQuery, KnockoutJS, and AngularJS.
- Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.
- Familiarity with data integration and ETL technologies including SSIS or DTS.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Access databases and VBA-based business applications.
- Understanding of application modernisation and legacy system transformation initiatives.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
