Job Description

Our client, a large financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced SAS Developer to deliver data and technology solutions supporting business change, operational improvement and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain solutions using SAS and related data technologies to support business and technical objectives.
• Contribute across the full delivery lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, implementation and transition into operational use.
• Work closely with stakeholders across technology, finance, risk and other business functions to understand requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
• Analyse complex datasets and existing processes to identify issues, opportunities for improvement and practical technology-led solutions.
• Ensure technical solutions are clearly documented, appropriately governed and aligned with relevant internal development and control standards.
• Support the redesign and improvement of data processes, including effective handover of completed solutions and supporting documentation to operational teams.
• Identify delivery risks, dependencies and technical issues, escalating these appropriately and supporting their resolution.
• Challenge existing processes constructively and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, capacity and operational resilience.

Experience Required

• Minimum 3+ years' experience in a SAS development, data development or closely related technical role.
• Strong hands-on development experience using SAS, ideally including SAS Enterprise Guide and/or SAS Viya.
• Good SQL development capability and experience working with structured data.
• Practical experience of data integration, transformation and ETL processes.
• Demonstrable experience delivering technology solutions through multiple stages of the project or software development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and develop practical solutions.
• Experience gathering, clarifying and translating business requirements into technical deliverables.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience working within financial services or another regulated environment.
• Exposure to technology-led regulatory or business transformation programmes.
• Project delivery or project management experience, particularly across complex or interdependent workstreams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work within demanding deadlines.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently where required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to delivery.
• An interest in process improvement, automation and improving operational efficiency.

Educational Requirements

• Third-level degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance or a related discipline.
• Equivalent relevant professional or industry experience may also be considered.
