My client, a financial services organisation, requires an experienced Solution Architect – Banking and Payments to support a regulatory-driven payments transformation programme on an initial 6-month daily rate contract.
Job Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture for a payments regulatory programme, ensuring alignment with the target architecture and enterprise strategy.
- Define, maintain and govern the architecture blueprint across current-state and future-state environments.
- Identify architectural risks, gaps, dependencies and integration points across multiple systems, domains and workstreams.
- Prepare, document and present architecture decisions, design papers and recommendations to relevant governance forums.
- Ensure all solution designs align with enterprise architecture standards, regulatory requirements and wider business objectives.
- Provide architectural leadership and guidance across multiple teams, vendors and delivery streams.
- Support vendor assessments, make-or-buy analysis and architecture trade-off decisions.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure scalable, compliant and fit-for-purpose architecture outcomes.
Experience Required
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in solution architecture, with strong experience across banking, payments or financial services environments.
- Proven background delivering architecture for payments, regulatory transformation or large-scale financial services programmes.
- Strong understanding of open banking, payment regulations and compliance-led technology change.
- Experience designing enterprise-level solutions across multiple systems, applications and technology domains.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise and solution architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality architectural documentation, decision papers and governance materials.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively at senior leadership level.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with modern API platforms, microservices and cloud-based architecture.
- Previous experience supporting vendor selection, option analysis or technology procurement decisions.
- Strong understanding of integration patterns across complex financial services environments.
- Experience working across multi-vendor or multi-workstream transformation programmes.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical architecture and delivery outcomes.
Educational Requirements
- A third-level degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant architecture certifications such as TOGAF, or equivalent professional certifications, would be beneficial.
