SQL Database Administrator

My Dublin City Centre based client is growing and is looking for a permanent SQL DBA to take ownership of their SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team where you’ll play a key role in maintaining, improving, and evolving critical database systems that support business success. This role will be hybrid working. 

Responsibilities

• Managing, maintaining, and optimising SQL Server databases in Azure and on-premises environments.
• Ensuring high availability, performance, and data security across all systems.
• Automating processes and streamlining workflows using PowerShell.
• Managing backups, recovery, and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Supporting SSIS, SSRS, and other SQL Server components.
• Troubleshooting performance issues and implementing proactive solutions.
• Collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to deliver ongoing projects.
• Keeping documentation clear and up-to-date while staying current with SQL Server and Azure best practices.

Experience Required 

• 5+ years’ experience as a SQL Server DBA in a dynamic, enterprise environment.
• Proven hands-on experience with Azure SQL and cloud-based database management.
• Strong background in performance tuning, high availability, and backup/recovery.
• Knowledge of Azure services such as SQL Database and Data Factory.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control tools.
