Application Support Developer

Location: Castleford (On-site)

Duration: Fixed-term until February 2028

Salary: Up to £70,000 + excellent pension and benefits

This is an excellent opportunity for an Application Support Developer to join a business undergoing a major SAP S/4HANA transformation programme.

You'll act as a key link between users, business systems and software development, supporting business-critical applications while helping prepare systems and data for migration into SAP. The role combines application support, troubleshooting, bug fixing, data validation and development work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys understanding how systems support the wider business.

As the programme progresses, you'll gain exposure to SAP S/4HANA, enterprise-scale ERP transformation and international project delivery, working alongside teams across the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Provide application support for business-critical systems and desktop applications
• Triage, investigate and resolve user-reported incidents and issues
• Escalate complex problems where appropriate
• Analyse application defects and deliver bug fixes and enhancements
• Support users of varying technical abilities across the business
• Develop and maintain scripts to support data extraction and validation activities
• Assist with data cleansing and master data quality initiatives
• Support the migration of business processes and data into SAP S/4HANA
• Work closely with end users to understand system issues and business requirements
• Collaborate with internal and international project teams throughout the SAP transformation programme
• Contribute to the ongoing support and development of both legacy and future business systems

Requirements

• Experience in Application Support, Software Support or a similar technical role
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience supporting business applications or ERP systems
• Knowledge of C#
• Experience with Visual Studio
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with VB.NET and/or VB6
• Ability to diagnose technical issues and communicate solutions effectively
• Experience working directly with business users and stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience developing and supporting bespoke business applications
• SAP S/4HANA experience
• Experience working on ERP implementations or migration projects
• Manufacturing or logistics industry experience
• Data migration, data validation or master data management experience
• Experience supporting legacy applications
• Exposure to system integrations and interface support
• Understanding of business processes across operations, supply chain or manufacturing environments
