Business Analyst - Finance & Billing
Location: Leeds - hybrid/2 days per week on site
Contract: Outside IR35, competitive market rate
Duration: 3 months initially, with a strong chance of extension

The business is going through a major technology transformation, with a core platform being redeveloped to support the next stage of its growth. The first phase is focused specifically on Finance & Billing, so we're looking for a Business Analyst with strong experience across finance and billing processes to help shape the new platform.

You'll work with Finance and business stakeholders to understand current processes, run discovery sessions and define requirements, before working closely with the Engineering team to shape and deliver the solution. You'll need to be comfortable getting into the detail of processes such as invoicing, billing, credit calculations and disputes, as well as understanding how orders, billing and data fit together.

This is a good opportunity for a BA who enjoys working alongside software teams, getting stuck into discovery and taking ownership of a backlog rather than sitting on the sidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions and workshops with Finance, Credit Control and wider business stakeholders.
• Understand existing processes and translate them into clear, structured requirements.
• Define how Finance & Billing processes should work within a new platform.
• Work closely with an Engineering squad and maintain hands-on ownership of the backlog.
• Analyse processes covering orders, billing, invoicing, disputes and credit calculations.
• Identify gaps, dependencies and risks, helping the team prioritise what needs to be built.
• Support requirements through development and delivery, working closely with technical teams.
• Work confidently with senior stakeholders and provide challenge where required.

Requirements

• Strong commercial Business Analysis experience within Finance Departments, Billing or Finance transformation.
• Proven experience working closely with Software Engineers, Developers or Product teams.
• Strong requirements gathering and discovery workshop experience.
• Experience managing or owning a product backlog alongside an Engineering team.
• Able to take ambiguity and turn it into clear, actionable requirements.
• Good understanding of the relationship between orders, billing, invoicing and data.
• Comfortable working with Finance processes, numbers and complex business rules.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including confidence working with senior stakeholders.
• Pragmatic approach to prioritisation, dependencies and delivery.
