Cloud Platform Lead
Glasgow | Up to £80,000 | Permanent | Hybrid - 3 days on site

Why apply?

This is a build role, not a maintenance one. You'll be the lead cloud engineer for the business, reporting to the Head of Infrastructure & Service, designing the Azure platform from the ground up and helping shape the engineering standards the wider technology function works to. There's no existing cloud team, you'll build the capability and grow a team around you as it scales. If you want to point at a platform in two years and say you built it, this is that job.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement the Azure platform - landing zones, reference architectures, hosting and automation
  • Help set engineering standards for resilience, security, scalability and performance
  • Lead cloud migration and modernisation, including hybrid integration with the legacy on-prem estate
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD adoption across the organisation
  • Build platforms secure by design, aligned to ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials
  • Embed cost visibility and FinOps practice into platform design
  • Define runbooks, monitoring and alerting so everything you build is properly supportable
  • Work alongside infrastructure, workplace, security and data teams to remove friction and enable delivery

What you'll need

  • 7+ years' experience, with strong hands-on Azure platform engineering
  • Proven delivery of cloud migration and modernisation programmes
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep or ARM) and CI/CD pipelines you've owned end to end
  • Strong networking, identity (Entra ID) and cloud security knowledge
  • Experience in ITIL-aligned service organisations
  • Desirable: Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305 or equivalent), ITIL v4 Foundation, FinOps exposure

Package

  • Up to £80,000, plus discretionary bonus (typically 3-5%)
  • 8% pension
  • 23 days holiday, plus your birthday, plus Scottish bank holidays
  • Hybrid working - 3 days per week on site in Glasgow city centre

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, or age.
