Are you ready to shape the future of data at a high growth Insurtech Unicorn?

Our client is a fast scaling Insurtech business that's transforming the insurance space with cutting edge technology and a data first mindset. With strong commercial backing and ambitious growth plans, this is a prime opportunity for an experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead a small but high impact team and play a pivotal role in building a scalable, resilient, and future ready data platform.

You'll join a team of four Data Engineers, taking ownership of both the technical roadmap and the growth of the people within it. This is a hands on leadership role. You'll spend around half your time in the code, and half mentoring, strategising, and collaborating across the organisation to ensure the data platform delivers real business impact.

Why Apply?

  • Lead and grow a talented team while still staying close to the tech.
  • Own the architecture, reliability, and scalability of a modern data platform.
  • Work cross functionally with Engineering, Analytics, Product, and Pricing to shape data strategy.
  • Join a high growth, values led scale-up where curiosity and innovation are championed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team Data Engineers.
  • Define and deliver the data engineering roadmap aligned with business priorities.
  • Own and evolve the data platform architecture from ingestion and transformation through to governance, observability, and real time processing
  • Drive adoption of best practices (CI/CD, testing, infra as code) and introduce new technologies where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Analytics to ensure alignment and impact.
  • Champion a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

Tech Stack:
Python | SQL | Snowflake | AWS (S3, EC2, Terraform, Docker) | Airflow | dbt | Apache Spark | Apache Iceberg | Postgres

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a hands on data engineering leadership role.
  • Strong background in modern data engineering (pipelines, modelling, transformations, governance).
  • Experience leading or mentoring small teams, with a desire to develop people as much as technology.
  • Solid AWS cloud experience and exposure to modern tooling such as dbt, Airflow, and Snowflake.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and balance technical and business priorities.
  • Curiosity around AI and how it can be used to boost productivity and efficiency.

We're proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
