We're proud to support a charity that's making a real difference right on our doorstep.
Last Thursday, we joined Bray & North Wicklow Area Partnership (BNWAP) at Bray Emmets GAA Club to celebrate five years of the BIA Food Initiative - a milestone moment that brought together community organisations, volunteers, funders and supporters to recognise the impact of the programme and thank the many people who have helped sustain it since day one.
Five years of tackling food poverty in Bray and North Wicklow
The BIA Food Initiative supports individuals and families experiencing food poverty across Bray and North Wicklow. Each week, around 65 food parcels are distributed through local community groups working directly with families who need a hand. The initiative also supports local homeless services, including WH Five Loaves and BARSS (Bray Area Rough Sleepers Support).
Speaking at the event, representatives from BNWAP highlighted how the need for food support has grown in recent years, driven by the rising cost of living and the ongoing financial pressures faced by many households. Representatives from Bray Lions Club, one of the groups supported through the initiative, put it simply: "BIA food parcels make a real difference to our families, particularly with the recent explosion in the cost of living."
The programme sources surplus food through a paid membership with FoodCloud, and has recently secured additional support through the European Social Fund Plus - an important boost as demand continues to climb. It is also assisted by local labour market schemes and funded in part by Fruition Group Ireland.
What ESG means to us at Fruition Group Ireland
For us, this is what ESG is - giving back to the local community, where support can make a genuine difference on the ground. Backing the BIA Food Initiative is one of the most direct ways we can contribute to the place where our team lives and works, and we're proud be helping the people who deliver it.
Thank you to the BIA volunteers and partners
A huge thank you to the team at Bray & North Wicklow Area Partnership and to every volunteer, partner and supporter who has helped this initiative reach its five-year milestone. We're delighted to play a part in the journey so far.
