The Opportunity
We're working with a highly regarded software engineering consultancy that has been engaged to support a major technology project through team augmentation with an established insurance business.
They're looking for an experienced TypeScript Engineer to join an existing engineering team, helping build and evolve backend services within a modern, cloud-based environment.
This is a hands-on engineering opportunity where you'll be working across TypeScript, AWS, serverless technologies and event-driven architecture, contributing to scalable systems that support a high-volume transactional environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design, develop and maintain backend services using TypeScript.
- Build and evolve serverless applications and services within AWS.
- Work with event-driven architectures to support scalable, asynchronous systems.
- Develop and integrate APIs and distributed services.
- Contribute to system design and architectural decisions.
- Work with databases, ideally including MongoDB, to support application requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers across the consultancy and end-client teams.
- Help ensure systems are reliable, scalable and capable of handling high transaction volumes.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong commercial experience with TypeScript, particularly across backend development.
- Hands-on experience building applications and services within AWS.
- Strong understanding of serverless architecture, ideally AWS Lambda.
- Experience designing and developing event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Experience building scalable APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB.
- An understanding of building reliable, high-performance systems.
Desirable:
- Experience within fintech, financial services, insurance or payments.
- Previous experience working on platforms handling high volumes of transactions.
- Experience with messaging, asynchronous processing and event streaming technologies.
This is an opportunity to join an established engineering team on a significant project, working with modern cloud technologies and contributing to the development of scalable, event-driven systems.
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
